I was born and raised in the North Country. After graduating from Canton Central School in 1987, I attended SUNY Potsdam where I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I have a BS in Education N-12, with a concentration in Mathematics K-9, and an MS in Special Education. My work began as a Teaching Assistant at Canton Central School while working toward my Masters. I spent an additional two years as a Speech and Language Therapist also in Canton, although I am not certified in this area I was filling a vacant position for which there were no qualified candidates. Next up was a position with BOCES in an alternative education program working with those students that did not fit into the traditional classroom mold. I then made a transition into a traditional school setting while continuing to work for BOCES over the next 4 years. At this point, I was working with kids in an 8:1:1 setting. Finally, the decision to take a district 8:1:1 position at Potsdam was made. I spent the next 5 years working with students in grade 9-12 until a need at AAK presented itself. As the only district employee certified to make this change I moved to the middle school where I have been for the last 4 years working with mostly 5th and 6th grade 12:1:1 students.
